Orgalutran How to Take

Orgalutran (Ganirelix) belongs to the class of medications known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonistsIt is used to prevent premature ovulation in women undergoing ovarian stimulation as part of fertility treatment. It blocks the effects of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).

GnRH controls the secretion of another hormone, called luteinizing hormone (LH), a hormone that starts ovulation (release of an egg) during the menstrual cycle. Orgalutran (Ganirelix) allows the release of an egg to be controlled so it is released at the best time for pregnancy to occur.

Your doctor may have suggested Orgalutran (Ganirelix) for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. As well, some forms of Orgalutran (Ganirelix) may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here. If you have not discussed this with your doctor or are not sure why you are taking Orgalutran (Ganirelix), speak to your doctor. Do not stop taking Orgalutran (Ganirelix) without consulting your doctor.
