It is important that Vaniqa (Eflornithine) be used along with other hair removal methods (e.g., shaving, plucking, etc.).

Vaniqa (Eflornithine) does not work right away. Actual results may vary, but signs of improvement can be seen as early as 4-8 weeks of treatment. If no improvement is seen after 6 months, Vaniqa (Eflornithine) therapy should be stopped.

Vaniqa (Eflornithine) may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of Vaniqa (Eflornithine) may not be available in all of the forms or approved for all of the conditions discussed here. Your doctor may have suggested Vaniqa (Eflornithine) for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. If you have not discussed this with your doctor or are not sure why you are taking Vaniqa (Eflornithine), speak to your doctor. Do not stop taking Vaniqa (Eflornithine) without consulting your doctor.

Do not give Vaniqa (Eflornithine) to anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms as you do. It can be harmful for people to take this medication if their doctor has not prescribed it.

Your privacy is important. That's why we send your medication inside a plain delivery box so no one will know what's inside.

Vaniqa Dosage

The recommended adult dose is a thin layer to affected skin on the face and neck twice a day, at least 8 hours apart. Rub in thoroughly to make sure the medication enters the skin. Try not to wash areas with Vaniqa (Eflornithine) for at least 4 hours after applying the medication. Avoid applying Vaniqa (Eflornithine) near the eyes or nose or broken skin.

Vaniqa (Eflornithine) can be applied 5 minutes after other hair removal techniques (e.g., shaving). After Vaniqa (Eflornithine) has dried, you may apply sunscreens, moisturizers, or cosmetics over the treated area.

Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to use Vaniqa (Eflornithine) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
