Frequently Asked Questions

What is Blexten?

Blexten belongs to the group of drugs called antihistamine and used to treat allergy symptoms.

What are the uses of Blexten?

Blexten is an antihistamine and works by blocking histamine, a natural chemical produced by your body during an allergic reaction. It thus helps to relieve allergy symptoms, such as runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, itching nose/eyes. Blexten also relieves hives and itching.
Blexten is useful for the following conditions:

  • Seasonal allergic rhinitis, in patients 12 years of age and older
  • Long-standing spontaneous urticaria, in patients 18 years of age and older
  • Allergic skin conditions, in patients 12 years of age and older
  • Allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, in patients 12 years of age and older

Of note, Blexten does not treat or prevent a severe allergic reaction, such as anaphylaxis. So, if your physician has prescribed epinephrine to manage allergic reactions, always keep your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use Blexten instead of epinephrine.
The medication may be prescribed for other uses; ask your physician or pharmacist for detailed information.

How do you use Blexten?

  • Take this medicine orally once daily, on an empty stomach, or as prescribed by your physician. If you have taken food or juice, wait for two hours before taking the tablet. Have food or juice after an hour of taking medicine.
  • ake this tablet daily at the same time.
  • Follow all the instructions on the prescription label.
  • Do not stop taking this medication abruptly without consulting your doctor.
  • Do not take it more or less, or take it more than often than prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not stop using it even if you feel well.

It may take several weeks before you begin to notice the full benefits of the medication.

If You Miss the Dose

  • If you happen to miss a dose of Blexten, take the missed dose as soon as you remember.
