Olumiant How to Take

Olumiant (Baricitinib) belongs to the class of medications called disease-modifying antirheumatic agents. Olumiant (Baricitinib) is used alone or in combination with Methotrexate to reduce the signs and symptoms of moderate to severely active Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). It is used when treatment with one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic medications has not provided enough relief.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease. This means that the body's immune system fails to recognize its own tissue, and views it as a foreign invader. In the case of RA, the immune system attacks the joints and tissue, causing long-term damage.

Olumiant (Baricitinib) is believed to work by interfering with the activity of an enzyme that sends inflammatory signals in the body called Janus Kinase. Olumiant (Baricitinib) attaches to this enzyme which helps to reduce swelling and joint tenderness in people with RA.

Olumiant (Baricitinib) may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of Olumiant (Baricitinib) may not be available in all of the forms or approved for all of the conditions discussed here.
