Toloxin Pediatric How to Take

Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) belongs to a class of medications called cardiac glycosides. It is used to treat mild-to-moderate Congestive Heart Failure and to treat certain types of abnormal heart rhythms. It helps to reduce the symptoms of congestive heart failure (e.g., swelling in the ankles, feet, and hands; shortness of breath; frequent fatigue) by helping to increase the strength of the heart so that it pumps more efficiently. Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) also helps to maintain a normal heart rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) may not be available in all of the forms or approved for all of the conditions discussed here. As well, some forms of this medication may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here.

Your doctor may have suggested Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. If you have not discussed this with your doctor or are not sure why you are being given Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin), speak to your doctor. Do not stop using Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) without consulting your doctor.

Do not give Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) to anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms as you do. It can be harmful for people to use Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) if their doctor has not prescribed it.

Toloxin Pediatric Dosage

The dose varies widely depending on age, disease, weight, and kidney function. Higher doses are often given at the start of treatment to make sure there is enough medication in your body to achieve the desired effect. After this "loading dose", daily adult doses usually range between 0.0625 mg and 0.25 mg. Children's doses are individually determined by their doctor.

Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) is normally taken once daily at the same time each day. Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, and you remember it within 12 hours, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you miss 2 doses in a row, call your doctor for instruction.

Store Toloxin Pediatric (Digoxin) at room temperature, protect it from light, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.
