Pulmophylline How to Take

Pulmophylline (Theophylline) is used to treat or prevent the symptoms of bronchial Asthma, chronic Bronchitis, emphysema, and other diseases involving constriction of the airways. Pulmophylline (Theophylline) helps to ease the cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, and troubled breathing associated with these conditions by allowing relaxation of the tubes (bronchi) of the airways, thereby permitting increased amounts of air to flow through them.

Pulmophylline (Theophylline) may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of Pulmophylline (Theophylline) may not be available in all of the forms or approved for all of the conditions discussed here. As well, some forms of Pulmophylline (Theophylline) may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here.

Your doctor may have suggested Pulmophylline (Theophylline) for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. Pulmophylline Dosage

The dose of Pulmophylline (Theophylline) is carefully determined by your doctor based on your age and response to the medication. Sometimes blood tests are required in order to make sure the levels of Pulmophylline (Theophylline) are within the range that will be effective, yet not high enough to cause unwanted side effects.

Pulmophylline (Theophylline) is best taken with a full glass (8 ounces) of water on an empty stomach (either one hour before or 2 hours after meals) unless otherwise directed by your doctor. If the medication causes stomach upset, your doctor may want you to take it with food.

Use an oral syringe to measure each dose of the liquid, as it gives a more accurate measurement than household teaspoons.

Pulmophylline (Theophylline) must be taken regularly as prescribed so that blood levels of the medication are always in the correct range for effectiveness. It is important that you don't take more Pulmophylline (Theophylline) than prescribed, even if your breathing does not get better, because levels at which signs of overdose take place are not as high as most medications. If your breathing does not improve, or gets worse, call your doctor at once.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take Pulmophylline (Theophylline) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Store Pulmophylline (Theophylline) at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.
